ちいさなBIOMBO Small Folding Screens ”Biombo“

板をいろんな形にくりぬいて、ちょうつがいでつないでいる。そこに色を塗る。それは「びょうぶ」みたいなオブジェ。BIOMBOって、ポルトガル語で「びょうぶ」のこと。ビオンボと読むらしい。以前、サントリー美術館でその名も「BIOMBO」という屏風の展覧会があった。すてきな響きだなーと思っていたので、そこから拝借。個展のタイトルに。屏風ほど大きくないものばかりなので、「小さなBIOMBO」としてみた。
京都のメリーゴーランドという本屋さんの併設のギャラリーで。鈴木潤ちゃんというすてきな店主さんが誘ってくれるので、一生懸命、いま、制作しているのだ。楽しい。道楽のような制作だ。そんな中でもたまに発見がある。おおぉ、これは！というような気づきをもたらしてくれる。展覧会は10月6日から17日まで。あともう少し。でもまだ時間はあるぞ。がんばります。

Small Folding Screens ”Biombo“
Cutting the boards in various shapes, jointing them with hinges and painting them; I'm making objects like folding screens for my exhibition.
'Biombo" is Portuguese and means a painted folding screen.
An exhibition called "Biombo" was held at Suntory museum in Tokyo once.
I felt that the word Biombo sounded nice, so I remembered it and decided to use this word as the title (of my exhibition).
Jun Suzuki, the owner of the gallery asked me to have an exhibition.
Now, I'm working hard! It's fun, and I have had several discoveries through creating the objects.
